Smartphone Buying Guide for Dubai & Saudi Arabia

New phones launch every few months, and stores in Dubai and Saudi Arabia are full of choices from Apple, Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, OPPO and more. This guide helps you pick the right smartphone for your needs and budget, and explains what to check before buying in the UAE or KSA.

Table of Contents

Step 1: Choose Your Budget

Category	Approx. UAE (AED)	Approx. KSA (SAR)	Good For
Budget	500 – 1,000	500 – 1,000	Calls, WhatsApp, social media
Mid-range	1,000 – 2,000	1,000 – 2,000	Good cameras, smooth daily use
Upper mid-range	2,000 – 3,500	2,000 – 3,500	Flagship-like features
Flagship	3,500+	3,500+	Best cameras, performance, long updates

Prices vary by model, storage and sales.

Step 2: Key Specs to Check

Storage: 128 GB minimum; 256 GB if you shoot lots of video.
RAM: 8 GB or more for smooth Android performance.
Battery: 4,500–5,000 mAh or more for all-day use in the summer heat.
Software updates: choose brands that promise several years of updates for security.
5G support: to enjoy the fast networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia (see our 5G guide).
Water and dust resistance (IP67/IP68): useful for beach trips and dusty weather.

Step 3: SIM, eSIM and Dual Numbers

Many residents use two numbers – for example a work and personal line, or a UAE and Saudi number. Check whether the phone supports dual physical SIM, eSIM, or both. Some imported models are eSIM-only. Learn more in our eSIM activation guide.

Step 4: Official vs Imported Phones

Official (regional) phones come with local warranty and support Arabic and regional network bands.
Imported phones may be cheaper but can have warranty limits, different SIM support or missing features.

Always ask the seller about warranty coverage and keep the invoice.

Popular Brands in the Region

Apple iPhone – strong resale value and long software support.
Samsung Galaxy – wide range from budget A-series to flagship S and foldable Z series.
Google Pixel – clean Android and great cameras.
Xiaomi, Honor, OPPO, Huawei – strong value in budget and mid-range.
